The Institute for Democracy, Develpment and Human Rights in Latin America -IDEAMERICA- is a non-profit organization whose main objective is the promotion of democracy, human rights , international humanitarian law and the development, through the design and implementation of training, investigation and consulting programmes.
The institute was established by a group of experts in areas related to HR and IHL, with extensive experience in academic, research and consulting works. Ideamerica also has a group of consultants in complementary subjects such as national security and defense, criminal law, corporate responsibility, conflict management and sustainable development.
- To promote among the citizens a joint responsibility culture in the building of democratic societies, where the respect for the Human Rights is the guiding principle of all its actions.
- Fostering values such as equality, justice, tolerance, honesty, commitment, solidarity and social participation as the means for achieving respectful societies of human dignity.
- To support initiatives aimed at promoting the transparency, the institutional strengthening and citizen participation in political, economical and cultural life in society.
Since 2013 IDEAMERICA is a member of The United Nations Global Compact, on the premise that the Ten Principles are useful tools to align private sector, public sector and civil society strategies, with the aim of achieve a fair and inclusive society.
In Colombia, IDEAMERICA performs activities of general interest, social development and community access, for the improvement of living conditions of man in society recognized by the Political Constitution.
